Apple Inc has announced the appointment of Indian-origin engineer Kevan Parekh as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), following the Luca Maestri’s transition to Corporate Services teams, marking the second major rejig by the tech giant in the last one week. As part of a planned succession, Kevan Parekh, currently Apple’s Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, will take over as CFO from January 1, 2025 and join the executive team. Parekh has been with Apple for 11 years and has played a key role in the company’s financial strategy and operations.

Parekh’s journey to the top of Apple’s finance team is rooted in a strong technical and business education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
He further honed his business acumen by earning an MBA from the University of Chicago, one of the most prestigious business schools in the world.The 52-year-old executive joined Apple 11 years ago and quickly established himself as an integral part of the company’s finance leadership team. Currently serving as Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, he oversees critical areas such as Financial Planning and Analysis, G&A and Benefits Finance, Investor Relations, and Market Research and is even believed to report to Tim Cook.
Before his current role, Parekh led finance for Worldwide Sales, Retail, and Marketing at Apple, demonstrating his versatility and deep understanding of the company’s diverse business units. As per a Bloomberg report, Kevan Parekh was being groomed by his senior, Maestri, for the CFO role during the last several months. Before joining Apple, Parekh built a robust career at Thomson Reuters and General Motors, where he held various senior leadership roles.
The Indian-origin executive has worked with Reuters for four years and held key roles including Vice President of Finance before signing off as Corporate Treasurer. At General Motors, Parekh was the Director of Business Development in the New York office and has also served as Regional Treasurer in Zurich, Europe.
