Wheelchair Tennis Paralympics 2024 Google Doodle: As the Paris Paralympics 2024 continues to captivate sports enthusiasts worldwide, Google commemorated the wheelchair tennis event on Tuesday through an engaging doodle featuring animated birds.
The doodle shows two birds playing the sport in a wheelchair in the pristine Parisian garden of Jardin du Palais Royal, or Jardin des Tuileries. “Ace attitudes and stellar serves. Wheelchair Tennis starts today at Stade Roland-Garros!” the search engine wrote on its official Google Doodles page.
The 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris kick-started wheelchair tennis events on August 30 and they will end on September 7 at the Roland Garros Stadium, famous for its clay courts. The tournament will feature singles and doubles matches in the men’s, women’s, and quads categories.
On Sunday, Alfie Hewett (Great Britain), Martin De La Puente (Spain), Todiko Oda (Japan), and Gustavo Fernandez (Argentina) qualified for the last 16 in matches with different profiles.
First conducted at the Barcelona Paralympic Games in 1992, wheelchair tennis is played at all four Grand Slam tournaments. The International Tennis Federation Wheelchair Tennis Tour now includes over 150 events, according to the official website.
