This interactive Doodle game challenges players to protect their popcorn kernel from being popped by a relentless barrage of butter. If your kernel pops, the game ends for you. You’ll compete against 59 players worldwide, and the last one standing wins!
According to Popcorn.Org, it is believed that the earliest use of wild and cultivated corn was for popping. In 1948 and 1950, the oldest popcorn ever unearthed was found in the Bat Cave in west-central New Mexico. These prehistoric popcorn ears, which range in size from less than a penny to around two inches, are said to have existed 4,000 years ago.
The history of popcorn with movies goes back to the Great Depression. Popcorn became a popular snack in movie theatres during the 1930s when people were watching movies as a way to escape economic troubles. It was also one of the few reasonably priced snacks available at the time. Popcorn’s inexpensive price, simple preparation, and enticing aroma made it a movie-going staple very quickly.
Popcorn became a staple of movie watching as more cinemas started to sell it. Popcorn’s reputation as the perfect movie snack was cemented by its crispy texture, flavor-absorbing capacity, and nostalgic association with cinema.
Popcorn is popular all throughout the world. Popcorn is a staple snack in single-screen and multiplex theatres in nations like India. It is available in Japan with unusual flavours like caramel or soy sauce. Popcorn is a delicious treat that is enjoyed worldwide, with regional variants in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.
As a result, Google’s Doodle strikes a chord with people everywhere, bringing back memories of movie evenings spent with loved ones or on alone excursions into fictional universes.
